Write for us

YOU. Yes, you! At Level Up, we’re always looking for new voices and fresh perspectives. If you’ve got an idea that will challenge a generation, we want to hear about it.

Sharing your unique experiences can help thousands of your peers, potential employers, colleges and universities and even publishers understand and unpack issues that affect our generation.

Send us your pitch

Send us a short paragraph summarizing what you want to say and why it matters to our readers. Once your brief is accepted, you’ll receive detailed feedback from our team on how to really hone in on your ideas.

Begin with a strong title, e.g: ‘TikTok made me drop out of uni’. Then, explain what you plan to write in under 200 words. That’s it!

Journalism isn’t dying; it’s evolving. We want to encourage a new generation of writers and content creators be a part of the evolution of storytelling.

At Level Up, we believe in rewarding writers for their time and work, so articles that show skill, flair and depth will be commissioned.

What we’re looking for

Before you submit your pitch, here’s a short list on how to make your submission stand out:

  • Don’t be afraid to be bold, inquisitive and uniquely you.
  • Write for an audience of your peers; young people on their own journey to figure out their future plans in or out of education and work.
  • Support your opinions and experiences with convincing arguments. Fact-check and cite sources where appropriate.

What we publish

We publish articles of anywhere between 600–2,500 words, depending on topic. Articles may be casual in tone and content. It’s all about your story and experiences and how they add to a larger global conversation.

How to submit (and what happens next)

Once your pitch is accepted, our team will get back to you on a potential deadline for the first draft. Email us your submission as a Google document so that editors can easily provide feedback and guidance within your draft.

After you hit Send:

  • An editor will review your submission and get back to you with notes.
  • Once you’ve addressed our feedback, send your revised draft back.
  • Once we accept your article, an editor will work closely with you on things like structure, tone and style.
  • We’ll schedule the article for publication as soon as revisions are made. We will give you a publication date once the article is ready to go live.
